Avril Lavigne On New Wii Celebrity Sports Showdown!

Avril Lavigne will be battling Nelly Furtado and Fergie!! Except it’s only in a video game. EA has announced that they will be releasing Celebrity Sports Showdown for the Wii. In addition to Avril, Nelly Furtado, and Fergie, LeAnn Rimes, boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and soccer star Mia Hamm will also be featured in the game, which will pin avatars looking like each celebrity against each other.

“We feel that this game is the EA Sports Freestyle answer to a great Wii party game. It explores the lighter side of sports and pulls inspiration from the entertainment spectacles that are so prevalent in pop culture today,” said executive producer Dave McCarthy. “Celebrity Sports Showdown will bring people to the party with a collection of games and celebrities that appeal to everyone.”

Events that the entertainers will fight include Wild Water Canoeing, ‘Inner-Tubing’, Volleyball, Smash Badminton and Arena Dodgeball. The game will be out just in time for the holiday season in the U.S., and will cost around $39.99. No European release date has been set yet.
