Avril Lavigne on Successfully Dealing With Fame

Avril Lavigne gave an interview to the Free Press last week. Here’s what she had to say about keeping sane and down to Earth while dealing with fame:
“I run the ship. I call all the shots. This is my life, I decided what I want to do, and yeah — I’m very clear on what I like and don’t like, what is me and what is not me. And that is important. I have a good team around me. Some (celebrities) who have kind of lost it — I’m not going to say names — it’s because they’re having everybody do everything for them. They never do it themselves. With me, it’s me: Hey, I want to write my songs, I want to put out a clothing line. I do the business, take the meetings. I do it the right way.
“The celebrity (breakdowns) thing — everybody just emphasizes it because they’re famous, and people think famous people are perfect. But they’re not. So it’s always a big deal. But I also value my privacy and really try to have control over the whole paparazzi and media thing.”
