Mexico Not So Thrilled with Avril Lavigne

by User ImageJeanne on October 28th, 2007

Ooooh, I hope this isn’t true. I heard it a couple days ago but I was sure that her people would issue some sort of statement refuting these claims. Anyway, Avril Lavigne is accused of being rude to her Mexican fans.

The night before her concert in Mexico City, the singer approached her fans from a distance.

“We were told no pictures, no shaking hands, no hugging or kissing” a disappointed fan said.

Even though some fans had been waiting for nearly 27 hours to get an autograph, the singer and her staff were rude to them. Several fans complained about the conditions given by Lavigne’s staff, but the treatment wasn’t different for the press either.

The press and TV crews were supposed to cover the whole event, which would last for about an hour, and Lavigne’s staff evicted the press after just a single minute of taking pictures.

Nearly 700 fans showed up to the event, and even when some fans showed great enthusiasm for the presence of Lavigne, she seemed distant and showed a forced smile.

Wow. That’s not cool. I mean, this is what celebrity life is all about. I hope Av can learn to warm up a bit if she really did do this.

The forums at avrilbandaids suggest that she signed 250 of about 700 autographs and they have pictures of her (freely) smiling. The telling sentence of the report seems to be:

“The press and TV crews were supposed to cover the whole event, which would last for about an hour, and Lavigne’s staff evicted the press after just a single minute of taking pictures.”

It seems more like she snubbed the press and this story is their revenge.

Hmmm… that definitely makes the story a little more interesting. Thanks for pointing that out!
